So I ordered some bits from Lush for my best friends birthday and thought I may as well treat myself to some pressies too :)

I decided to get a couple of Vegan bits:Vanilla Dee-Lite: Which is a moisturiser. I love the smell of vanilla and have been wanting to get a vegan lotion so this is a winner. Who doesn't want silky smooth skin that smells like sweets!?!

Pineapple Grunt: The item doesn't actually look like this. Made with fresh organic pineapple and vetivert (Indian grass) so I think it will be a pretty tasty smelling soap.

I also brought a tester of the Vanillary perfume. I've wanted a vanilla perfume for ages so if this is nice then I'll buy a bigger bottle. The website doesn't state if it's vegan so I've sent them an email asking, I'm presuming it's not as everything else is listed but as it was their perfume website I thought I'd check..... at least I know it's not tested on animals.

I sure do love getting packages in the post especially when they smell as good as this one.

I just ordered this:

I'm so intrigued about becoming vegan. Thought it might be worth having a look through this. The only downside to it that I think I'll encounter is that it will not doubt only talk about American products. But it's worth a read. So I'm looking forward to that turning up in the post.

Also yesterday I ordered about 10 random DVDs online so looking forward to all those lovely packages!!! Plus I'm still waiting on a bunch of bits I brought from the veganstore.co.uk it's taking absolutely ages, it cost like £4ish for delivery and yet the website says allow up to 28 days!!! Le sigh!

Anyhoot I'm off to watch this :)

Sunday I took to the kitchen again.
I attempted these Cinnamon Swirls with a recipe once again found at The Gluttonous Vegan.
I will admit mine do not look like the ones on the link.


My first swirl left me feeling rather sick and I felt disappointed....butafter thinking about it that was after many mix samples and picking at other ingredients.

Today is a whole new story......... Swirly, Cinnamony, Vegany goodness.... nom nom nom.

My next vegan recipe will have to be something savoury otherwise I'll gain a 1000lbs!

I've been looking for some vegan bath products to start replacing the current ones I use. I really want to get all my products vegan...... make-up (post coming soon) body lotion, lip balm, deodorant, body spray/perfume, shower gel etc etc.

Original Source products have been around for sometime yet foolishly I never knew they were vegan. Upon discovering this I've whipped up a few items to try out.

So far I have tried the Lime shower gel:

The smell is absolutely delicious. 40 limes are used in each bottle!!! Pretty amazing huh........ do you think it counts as one of your 5 a days??hehe
I really enjoyed using the product and will continue to try the other "flavours" however the only disappointing aspect is that I don't think the smell stays on your skin. I like coming out of the bath smelling like the product I've used, and I especially want to smell like 40 limes but alas it's not to be.

I've also used the Mint & Tea Tree Shampoo and Conditioner:
Once again the smell is stunning. It leaves my hair super shiny, smooth and as a bonus smelling lovely. I do find the it a little pricey, it's £1.99 for a 250ml bottle, which for me and my stupidly long hair will get used up pretty quickly. But I will definitely be buying this again.

I really hope Original Source expands their range to maybe produce larger bottles (their bottles are all totally recyclable too... bonus!) sprays, soap, and lotions etc. I can't even imagine how good their sprays would smell. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that these things are on the cards.

Can anyone recommend some vegan products which are easily available in the UK??

Never again

As I have mentioned several times, I am vegetarian with a strong interest in becoming vegan, I also always have the vegan option if there is one available.
My curiosity with being vegan means that whenever I see something that is suitable for vegans and I've never seen it before I get rather excited and I have to buy it so I can try it.
A couple of months ago I was in a local health store and came across this:
I was pretty dang excited.
Vegan - Check
Tofu - Check
Can - Check

Yes that's right I was super excited about finding tofu in a can. My experience with tofu so far has been nothing buy yumminess I have loved all the tofu dishes I have tried. I couldn't wait to try this.

Yesterday I got round to having a meal where I thought I could finally have that tinned tofu!

So I excitedly got the tin out of the cupboard and opened it. I was immediately hit by a smell. A smell that didn't make me think "hmmmmmm I'm hungry". More like a smell that made me think "uh oh this smells like cat food".

I fully peeled back the lid and looked inside. This is what I found:
After emptying out the contents, the tofu looked like flesh. Gone were the cute cubes or large blocks of tofu and here was flesh like jelly strips and cat food smelling tofu.

I decided to try some as I'm always determined to like whatever vegan bits I find.
I had one small bit, hmmmm interesting...... lets smell it again...........urgh..... ok another taste.....
no it's definitely bad.
Braised Tofu in a can unfortunately gets the thumbs down. I wont be buying this again. I actually feel a little scarred for life. Although I'm glad I tried it. I think it's important to try new things.

Still to test out is a can of faux duck and a can of nut luncheon, both vegan.
After yesterdays experience I'm a little worried about these............perhaps I'll wait a while hehe.

My best friend and her hubby have just got their first house and I went there last night for dinner. She made homemade pizza so I decided to bake a cake to take there.


I was rather nervous as she's an amazing cook, and my attempts can be a bit disastrous. But this was the best looking and best tasting thing I've ever made so yay.

I would strongly recommend this whether you're vegan or not (it's only the soya milk that makes it vegan) but if you love cinnamon this is definitely for you.
It's really easy to make, super tasty, and animal friendly...... what more could you want!?!

Just had this AMAZING Brie, Spinach and Mushroom Wrap in a local Vegetarian & Vegan Cafe.
I wanted everything on the menu.
I'll be making it a weekly visit and my own personal mission to try everything on the menu hehe.

Vegan Fudge

(Please excuse the buns, he was pretty excited too hehe)

I'm always on the look out for vegan/vegetarian food to try. While looking for some Eat Natural bars in my local Waitrose store I came across their free from products.
There sitting on the shelf was: Fabulous Fudge Factory - Dairy Free Fudge. I was super excited. I've seen vegan fudge online and wanted to buy it but shipping gets pricey and when it's only me wanting to just taste test things I don't really want to pay shipping prices.
Anyhoot the fudge itself was rather pricey £2.99 for this bag, but I threw caution to the wind and got them anyway. I was hoping so bad that there would be some vegan marshmallows but after several scans of the shelf I realised they didn't have any.......... I really have to order some online.....maybe with my first wages!?!
So as soon as I got home I had to try them. Now I don't really remember what fudge tastes like, it's not like it's the type of food you eat on a daily basis so my memory of "normal" fudge compared to vegan fudge is hazy.
I will say this though, that I found the vegan fudge tasty, not mind blowingly yummy but good enough to eat, although only a few pieces, so I guess that means they'll last a while. I will state though that my bf did not enjoy them...... sometimes though I think just the word vegan before a food item is enough to put him off.

But yay for Waitrose for stocking them, I'll have to go back there soon to see what else I can discover :)

Oh my gosh!!! I'm sooooo excited! I found these lovelies in my local tesco store. I've been waiting for veggie friendly fruity chewy sweets for so long.

Thank you Haribo, finally a vegetarian friendly sweetie and they're pretty dang tasty.....my fav is the strawberry.
I've had vegan chewies before and they were ok, I was determined to like them just on principle, but these ones are actually yummy!

YAY I'm so beyond excited! I'm stuffing my face with them whilst I type :) nom nom nom :)
