Kick-Ass

Tuesday night my bf and I finally got round to watching Kick-Ass, and as the title suggests it truly was "kick ass" (cheesy).

Anyhoot what a great film. I had wanted to see it but kind of didn't know too much about it. I thought it would just be a fun mock superhero type film. But it was really super good.

Although you would presume this film is childish (what with it being about kids who want to be superheros) it's not. It has strong language, graphic fight scenes and bloody violence, but it's also rather hilarious in places.

I was really impressed by this film and will definitely be buying it when it comes out........ then again I do buy a lot of movies.

The main guy Dave/Kick-Ass is a high school kid who's life is I guess rather ordinary and he's a little tired of local thugs getting away with whatever they want and no one standing up to them. Being a comic book fan he becomes curious as to why no one has ever tried to be a super hero before, so he decides to attempt it.
He has no super powers, no super human strength, he's not faster than a speeding bullet, he's just a guy in a wet suit.
"With no power, comes no responsibility"

He kind of gets a little in over his head, he gets misidentified as a couple of other crime fighters whom he is unaware of. Thus comedy, fighting, swearing, blood, and general kick-assedness (yes that's a word!?!) ensues!

I would strongly recommend this film.

Eeep!

Oh my gosh!!! I'm sooooo excited! I found these lovelies in my local tesco store. I've been waiting for veggie friendly fruity chewy sweets for so long.

Thank you Haribo, finally a vegetarian friendly sweetie and they're pretty dang tasty.....my fav is the strawberry.
I've had vegan chewies before and they were ok, I was determined to like them just on principle, but these ones are actually yummy!

YAY I'm so beyond excited! I'm stuffing my face with them whilst I type :) nom nom nom :)

I'm not a fan

Of the summer!

Yes I said it. I am an autumn person (perhaps swayed by my birthday being in October) and proud of it.

I do not enjoy the sun and the heat. British summers are just sticky and uncomfortable.
We are not equipped for extreme weather conditions, there's some snow the country goes into panic mode, there's major heat we have no air conditioning.
I literally don't think any shops have air conditioning here.

This weekend has been, as far as I'm concerned crazy hot, and for a girl who doesn't get her legs out (aka an all year round jeans wearer) then the hot weather is so not ideal.

The main reason why I detest the sun (others reasons include skin cancer, restless nights, sweaty places, etc etc) but yes the main reason for this post is this......

Just looking at this picture makes me want to vomit.

I have developed a large fear of spiders, any shape, any size, any where. My fear does also include general bugs, creepy crawlies and moths, but it's mainly spiders.
I feel bad for hating spiders so much, I'm a veggie and feel like I should like all animals, but to me spiders are pure devil evilness.
My fear is growing, I scream, I freeze on the spot, or will run a mile depending on how close they are, my heart rate increases, I feel panicked and nervous for ages after.

The garden is my main area of dread. I have to go out there on a daily basis because of my buns, but the last week or so this has literally become a nightmare.
2 recent incidents have freaked my out lately. Last week I was cleaning (attempting to) my rabbits hutch, I freaked out after thinking a spider was hanging from my glasses, I batted said "spider" off, and then ran screaming back into my house, where I then proceeded to strip my clothes off and then stomp on them to make sure the spider was not on me. I then checked myself out in front of the mirror front and back several times to make sure it wasn't on me, I untied my hair and shook it about, once dressed I then took an hour to calm myself down. I decided then that I needed to be brave a finish cleaning the hutch as there was no way I could leave it, and in the dark the spiders can attack in secret so day time was best. I soldered on through but came across another 4 spiders!!! Once I'm in a state of this sort of freak out I am totally on edge, for example if a strand of my hair touches my arm it make me jump or scream, a leaf blowing in the wind makes me freeze to the spot before I'm certain its not Satan's spawn. Reassessing the days events later that evening I began to think that I didn't actually have a spider hanging from my glasses I think it was just one of those hover flies, but alas the freak out started immediately.

The second hideous occurrence was last night, once again in my garden (aka hell) I was tucking my little buns in for the night, I went to reach the top of the hutch covers and there it was. The giant monster beast. I froze, I couldn't possibly go near it, so I decided to wait and watch it to see where it was going. After about 5 minutes it started to move away from what I needed to get to, So I quickly went to put the covers down and then the patio door opened which made my jump. My Mum's hubby asked what I was doing I explained whilst fastening the covers. He then decided to move the box the ginormous spider was on, I ran inside and said he couldn't touch it til I was far away. He then flicked it off down the garden.
Again as I should love all animals I should prefer the harm free removal of spiders, but I don't, I like to know that they are gone from this world for good.
After all what is the point of spiders??? Just to torment and terrify as far as I'm concerned.

Part of me would like to get over this fear, so that I can learn to behave like a normal person and also to not want to harm them, but the bigger part in me just wants them gone, my nerves can't handle it.

Whilst looking for a house spider picture, I came across these ridiculous things.....

Well I'm off to have nightmares now!

I hope I didn't offend any spider lovers. It was not my attention to offend, if anything I wanted to highlight my craziness!

Where does a day go?

On polyvore again that's where.

Another fashion challenge over at WWEPW. Creating a look for Emma in the 90s. I struggled a bit with this one. I can never limit myself to just one outfit either. So once again here are my 2 looks for Emma in the 90s.

The first look is slightly inspired by My So Called Life.

This 2nd look is my preferred one I think. It's like a tame Willow from Buffy.

I'm not too pleased with what I've created but it's the best I can do, I've certainly put a lot of effort into it at least hehe.

On a personal note, my weekend was spent charity shopping on Saturday and a bootsale on Sunday, both whilst struggling majorly with a cold/hayfever. I was a total mess. Didn't get too much, although I did manage to get a KISS doll at the bootsale........what a coincidence. I also got a couple of bags, but I'm not sure if they're keepers yet.
My ebay addiction started to creep back up again this weekend too, I'm waiting on 3 packages now...oopsy!

You wanted the best, You got the best!

Oh. My. Gosh!!!!!!!!!

Literally the best gig of my life!!!!!

It was so A-Mazing!

I don't even think there's anything else to say about it. It went above and beyond my expectations. It was so friggin' good.
During the show I may have developed a slight crush on Paul (aka the one with the star) which is kind of wrong, but he did a cute little tush shimmy every so often and I couldn't help myself. Plus crazy insane vocals.

The gig also converted my bf into being a fan, he didn't stop saying how good it was.

If you ever get a chance to see KISS,......Do IT!!!! I could not recommend it more.

(The gig was at an arena, and I had seated tickets, but still a good view)

Seeing KISS tonight!!!! Eeeekkkk can't wait :)

Movie Outtings

In the last 2 weeks I've been to the cinema 3 times. I absolutely love movies, so naturally I really enjoy going to the cinema.

Firstly last week I saw:

I really liked this film. You get what you expect with this type of movie in my opinion. I'm a Rourke & Joho fan and also love me some superhero action so I was bound to like it. If you want a light hearted/action/cheesy humour and some action hero goodness then you should check this out.
On a side note....perhaps not as good as the first one?!?!

The weekend just gone, my bestie and saw this:

Ahhh Chick flick goodness! I pretty much love most genres of film, Classics, Horror, Action, Sci-Fi, Thrillers etc etc but being a girl I always have time for a chick flick. Who doesn't need a dose of romance, humour, and maybe a bit of a cry every now and then!?!
Anyhoot my bestie and I love a girly trip to the cinema and this was the only CF out we both hadn't seen.
Again I enjoyed this movie, and again I say you get what you expect with this type of film. It was funny and sweet, on the other hand predictable and nothing original but good none the less.
On a plus note, whenever I see a typical CF I tend to walk out of the cinema feeling a tad bummed because life quite frankly is not like the movies and sometimes that's just plain depressing hehe. But this film didn't leave a bitter after taste, this might be due to the film subject which is about having a sprog.........and I am not a baby person, in fact some scenes made me feel a tad queasy hehe.

And lastly, last night my bf and I saw this:

Now both of us are big Freddie fans (along with most old horrors) so we were a bit sceptical and unsure what this might be like.
I'm undecided.
Did I enjoy it? Yes - but as I said I love going to the cinema. Did I get bored? No. Do I think it could have been better? Yes. Do I think it brought anything new to the Freddie plate? No.
I was pretty excited to see this as some of the teasers looked pretty good. I walked away from the cinema unsure of my opinion on it.
I watched it without getting bored and restless, and I did enjoy it. but as I said it's just nothing new. I thought the Freddie make-up was really realistic and effective, and some of aspects of the film were interesting....going into his background, the connection between those being killed. But I think somethings could have been explored more, like for example his past, although they touch on this (more than what the originals do) I just think they could have put a different spin on the movie and made it more realistic in places.
Granted the subject of the film is something that couldn't happen, but I think they could have made it more real and terrifying.
So to conclude I say...........see it. If you haven't seen the oldies (go do it) you'll enjoy this if you like slasher films, and if you an oldie fan just go see it because it's a Freddie film!!!

Upcoming movies I'm looking forward to.....
The Expendables - Sly (big fan), Bruce, Rourke, Arnie = Amazing!!!!!!!!!
SATC2 - Eeeekkkkk!
Predators - Half & Half about this. Luurrrrv the original, but Adrien Brody!?!? seriously!?!?

Addictive

I follow a blog called What Would Emma Pillsbury Wear? It's a really great blog.
A regular feature on this blog is a fashion challenge, where you create an outfit inspired by something EP has worn. So off I head to polyvore, a few outfits later and my whole day is literally gone.
Polyvore is both amazing and evil! Amazing because gosh it's super fun to create dream outfits, but evil because it's a time vortex.

Anyhoo this is how I have spent my morning/afternoon:

I should really get dressed now - Oopsy!

Awesomeness

Some times I lose hours if not days looking at tattoos online. There are some that just totally blow me away, and put my tattoos to shame.
Anyhoo last night a good 3hrs or so were spent here, and these were some of the awesome tattoos I came across.

Cuteness

I got this framed wall plaque Saturday from a charity shop. I think it's super sweet. A few weekends ago I got an adorable china plate set with a blue tit design. I think they're such a pretty bird.

I got this adorable kitty last weekend at a bootsale. I'd spotted it early on but told myself I didn't need it. Then as we were leaving it was still there so I decided to get it. I don't know what I'll do with it but it sure is cute.

On a sad note my poor little buns has hurt his paw by being too adventurous, so it's off to the vets tomorrow.
